Walking as Children of Light

This year has been filled with lots of changes, some foreseeable and others not so much. How does change make you feel? Anxious? excited? terrified? We all have different feelings towards change. Certainly, circumstances surrounding these changes play a big part in how we feel about them. One of the greatest changes we can encounter has to do with making the commitment to Christ. "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come; the old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Cor. 5:17) For many of us it has been some time since we made that commitment and if you think back to the feeling of peace it gave you afterward, there is no greater feeling of change! Although this feeling is one of a spiritual condition, it can affect our physical feeling too, the removal of anxiety, fear, dread, & stress, it all has a positive physical effect on the body. And one thing that does not change, that should put our feelings at ease, is the fact that our God does NOT change! God has blessed us beyond compare this year, with spiritual growth and life, not to mention some of those blessings being physical. I am reminded of what James tells us in James 1:17 " Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like the shifting shadows."
It has been said numerous times this year that God Wants to Save us, and that has never changed, how does that make you feel? This statement alone should lighten our load and help those feelings of shame and guilt, when we have failed to hold up our end of the bargain, to melt away. The lord told Jeremiah "For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jer 29:11) This saying also holds true for us as well, He has plans for us, plans for hope and for a future. Our trust is solidified in His plans, His promise, AND His Son, and knowing this is the best feeling of all.
