My journey to faith started long before I was born, back to the values my parents had as they matured from young christians to when they started raising me. I was blessed to grow up in congregations that spent time and effort to teach the Word and give the kids the tools to understand God’s will and our purpose. Of course, growing up in a “Christian” household meant I had to make the jump from believing what my parents believe, to believing what I came to understand as the Truth. As I grew older, I began to realize that even with good attendance at church and being a generally good person, I still would not be saved from the sin that I committed, separating me from God. I knew I needed a Savior who has victory over sin, and thanks to what I’ve been taught, I knew that was Jesus. It was the same day we were leaving for Chicagoland summer camp, I had so many thoughts going through my head. I was about to spend a week with people devoting themselves to God and obeying His will, and I wanted to be apart of it. I wanted the new life that God promises us, and to be apart of His Kingdom. I told my parents that Saturday that I wanted to be baptized and start living as one of God’s faithful servants. We packed our stuff for camp and made a pit-stop at the Fountains so we could use their pool. The following week was one of the best of my life as I had lots of support to begin my new mission in life, to serve God!
